It’s Not About Us…

1 Corinthians 3:4-9

Contemporary English Version (CEV)

Some of you say that you follow me, and others claim to follow Apollos. Isn’t that how ordinary people behave? Apollos and I are merely servants who helped you to have faith. It was the Lord who made it all happen. I planted the seeds, Apollos watered them, but God made them sprout and grow. What matters isn’t those who planted or watered, but God who made the plants grow. The one who plants is just as important as the one who waters. And each one will be paid for what they do. Apollos and I work together for God, and you are God’s garden and God’s building.

Whenever we share share the love of God, we are planting a seed. Once the seed of God’s love is shared we let go of “ownership” of the seed. As the scripture passage above states that one person plants the seed and another waters, but it is God who makes it grow.

The planters and those who water are both servants of God. One role is not more important than the other. When we begin to compare roles and rank them by our preconceived order of importance, at that point pride and the ego have taken over. It’s no longer about God, but rather it has become about the servant. Quick lesson in serving that is vital to remember, “It’s Not About You, it’s about Jesus.

Today’s Prayer:

Father as we go about our day today, let every encounter we have with someone be a God encounter. Let those we meet see more of you and less of us. May Jesus shine brightly in, around, and through us today, for Your glory. Amen.

I love you All with an AMAZING LOVE. Rev. Marcia Davis
