Good morning, Family:
I’m going to jump right in to the devotional this morning. Love, and the act of showing love, can sometimes be one of the hardest things to do. Love is easy when someone shows you love. On the other hand, love can feel like the hardest action to demonstrate, when your heart is hurting.
How do we love through pain? How do we love in the face of hurt? How do we live a life of charity, when charity is very last thing on our mind? We must cast our cares at the feet of Jesus. We must pray for God to surround us with peace and patience. We must ask to see the situation or person through the eyes of God.
Trust me, I know the concept of “turning the other cheek” is one of bible passages we sometimes would like to forget. Today is that day for me, so this message is just as much for me as it is for everyone else. (As I stated before, I am only a vessel through which the Holy Spirit writes. I say, “ouch or that was for me” most of the time too).
1 John 4:19-21
English Standard Version (ESV)
19 We love because he first loved us. 20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot[a] love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
What a beautiful song that we all need to sing. My prayer is that God will pour love into me to share with others. May God continue to bless and strengthen you and your husband, as he uses you to minister to others.
