I Will Walk Where He Leads Me…

Matthew 11:28-30

New King James Version (NKJV)

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Trust has to be earned. It is hard for most of us to blindly trust someone unless we have a personal relationship with them.

Years ago, as a person young in the faith, I was always taught to trust God. The only problem was that even though I accepted Jesus, the Christ, as my Lord and Savior, I didnt have a relationship with him. Initially, I copied what everyone was doing in church. If they said, “Praise the Lord,” then so would I.

Over time, I began to feel empty, like I was just “playing church.” I remember going through some hard trials. One day I was just crying uncontrollably. I said, “God if you are real, show me how to have my own relationship with you. I want to know you for myself.”

I was born in Knoxville, TN. I was raised on gospel music. My father played the keyboards for the church choir. There was one song that came back to my memory, the day thay I was crying and upset. The song was entitled, “His Yoke is Easy.”

Through my tears I began to sing that song and I fell to my knees. I heard what the songwriter was saying. From that day forward, I knew God for myself. He spoke to my heart through music and still does to this day.

Now I walk with assurance knowing that God is ordering my steps. As the scripture says:

Habakkuk 3:19

19 The Lord God is my strength.
He makes ·me like a deer (hinds feet) that does not stumble [L my feet like a deer’s]
so I can walk on the ·steep mountains [heights].

I Woke Up This Morning…

Psalm 5:1-3

New King James Version (NKJV)

A Prayer for Guidance

Give ear to my words, O Lord,
Consider my meditation.
Give heed to the voice of my cry,
My King and my God,
For to You I will pray.
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord;
In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up.

People say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast gives energy to tackle the day head-on. Dieticians say that a good breakfast also gets the metabolism going.

Starting the day with God is equally as important. Seeking God in the morning gets our spiritual metabolism going so that we can have the substance we need to conquer our day with victory. Amen!!!

There have been days when my spirit was craving time with God, but because I was rushing and didn’t set aside time, my day just felt “off.”

If you are not in the habit of spending time with God, starting a routine is very easy. Start off your day by just saying, “Thank You, Lord. I Love You. Teach me how you would like for me to spend my time with you.” Then close your eyes, slow your breathing…and just listen. You may have an urge to start humming, or you may have an urge to start reading the bible. Everyone is different. Don’t box yourself in or make it hard. Just show up and be available to listen.

Oh Taste and See…

Psalm 34:8

New King James Version (NKJV)

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him.

Happy Tuesday Morning. We praise God this morning for a brand new day. Yet one more day that we get to lift our voices and hands to heaven to say, “Thank You, Lord.”

What are you thankful for today?

How has God blessed you?

How has God made a way, when you thought there was no way?

When you thought you were all alone, when did you realize that God was waiting patiently for you, with love and mercy?

All that was needed was time for our will to line up with God’s word. As the Lord’s Prayer reminds us, “Your WILL be done, on earth (that means US) as it is in heaven.”

Once I learned how to pray, doors began to fly open, blessings came from all directions, but more importantly the most precious thing I received, as I learned to pray for the Lord’s will to be done, the most precious gift was a peace. An unspeakable, unshakable, Beautiful peace.

The Lord was just waiting for me to put MY AGENDA away and submit to His will for my life. When I let go…my life was forever changed.
