Day 44 of 365: How I Got Over… A Moment In History

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, whenever I prepare to write the devotional for the evening, I take a few seconds to get very quiet. Once all of me is still and listening, I will either get a word, phrase, or a song that Holy Spirit will put on my heart.

This evening, after my moment of stillness, I heard the chorus from the song “How I Got Over” sung by Mahalia Jackson. In that moment, I felt a warm hug surrounding me. I know I have not walked this earthly journey alone. I have carried with me the wisdom of those who have already passed on, but their love still lives in my heart. I also know that it is the Spirit of the Living God that leads and guides me at every turn.

Today, I honor both my heritage and my faith by sharing this powerful song of faith.

Scripture Passage of the Day

Psalm 100
A psalm. For giving grateful praise.

1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his[a];
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for bringing me this far by faith. I grew up forming a relationship with you through music. Thank you for continually being my heart song. Please allow me the opportunity to continue to share who you are through music and worship. In Jesus name I pray.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 2 of 365: Deserving of Worship

Good morning, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you always.

Family, as we embark on the second day of our 2026 journey together, I woke up this morning thinking about how deserving God is of all of our praise, worship, sacrifice, and obedience. Even in the most trying of times, God’s faithfulness has always been the same.

Today’s scripture passage:

Psalm 100:4

New International Version

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
    and his courts with praise;
    give thanks to him and praise his name.

Let us pray:

Spirit of the Living God:

We lift our hands and voices to give you the glory today. Thank you for your faithfulness toward us. May our lives be living testimonies of your goodness and favor. Spirit of the Living God, show us and remind us of the good way to walk.

Allow our spiritual ears to be finely in tune with the will of Heaven. May we live a life on purpose and in freedom from the sins that separate us from you. May we forever be a suitable dwelling place for you reside.

In the name of our Redeemer, Way Shower, and Chief Intercessor, Jesus Christ our Lord.

And we let it….and so it is… Amen, Amen, and Amen.

Give Thanks…

Good morning, Beloved Family:

Happy Thanksgiving. This week, I was leading a group counseling session with a precious group of kids. We talked about what it meant to be thankful and what emotions you feel when you are thankful. The kids shared beautiful answers.

I will ask the same questions to all of you. What are you thankful for and what does being “Thankful” mean to you? King David was a man that truly loved God. He had so much to be thankful for because God changed his life.

One of the ways David showed his thanks to God was  through the Book of Psalms. David’s words are from the heart of a true worshipper.
