Day 119 of 365: Peace in the Middle of the Storm

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, today’s devotional is coming from a very real place.

There are moments in life when peace feels easy—when worship flows, when faith feels strong, when our hearts are steady. But then there are other moments… moments where anxiety rises without warning, where the weight of life presses in, and where even getting through the next hour feels like a battle.

Today, I want to talk about that place.

The place where your mind is overwhelmed.
The place where your body feels heavy.
The place where you know God is with you… but you’re struggling to feel it.

In John 14:27, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.”

Notice what He didn’t say.

He didn’t say we would never face trouble.
He didn’t say we would never feel overwhelmed.

He said He gives us His peace.

And that kind of peace isn’t always loud. It doesn’t always remove the storm instantly. Sometimes, it shows up as a quiet anchor… something that keeps you from completely drifting, even when everything inside of you feels shaken.

There are moments when anxiety tries to take over—when your thoughts race, your body tenses, and you feel stuck. In those moments, it can feel like peace is gone.

But the truth is… it isn’t gone.

It’s still there—steady, present, and waiting.

Sometimes, faith doesn’t look like standing tall and unshaken.

Sometimes, faith looks like whispering, “Lord, help me,” while your hands are trembling.

Sometimes, peace looks like choosing to breathe.

Choosing to pause.

Choosing to remember—even if it’s just a small flicker—that God is still near.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Not distant.

Not waiting for you to “get it together.”

Close.

So if today was heavy… if your mind felt crowded… if your body felt like it couldn’t keep up… you are not alone in that space.

God is not intimidated by your anxiety.
He is not frustrated by your struggle.
He meets you right there—in the middle of it.

And even if all you can do today is rest in Him for a moment… that is enough.

Because this journey isn’t about perfection.
It’s about presence.

And His presence is still with you.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, Thank You for being near, even in the moments when we feel overwhelmed and uncertain. Thank You for Your peace that does not depend on our circumstances or our strength.

Lord, for anyone reading this who feels anxious, heavy, or stuck, I ask that You gently remind them that they are not alone. Quiet their thoughts, steady their hearts, and help them to feel Your presence in a real and personal way.

Teach us how to rest in You—not just in the calm moments, but in the difficult ones too. Help us to trust that Your peace is still available, even when we struggle to feel it.

We surrender our burdens to You today, knowing that You care deeply for us. Lord, in your mercy and grace, hear our prayers as we lift them to you.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Day 118 of 365: Be Strong and Take Courage…

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, one thing I am deeply grateful for is the hope and strength we have in the Lord. Whenever something weighs heavily on my heart, the Holy Spirit has a way of sending reassurance right on time.

Recently, I found myself wrestling with uncertainty about which direction to take professionally. It stayed on my mind for weeks—I prayed, I waited, and I wondered. But right on time, the Holy Spirit brought confirmation. Not only did I know my prayers were heard, but I felt a deep assurance that everything was already being worked out on my behalf.

In that moment, peace replaced worry. I gave God praise, and I made the decision to release it from my hands.

And that’s when I was reminded of this truth in Joshua 1:9—God does not just comfort us, He commands us: be strong, be courageous, and do not be afraid. Why? Because He is with us wherever we go.

Family, tonight I encourage you to release what you’ve been holding onto so tightly. The answers you’ve been seeking, the direction you’ve been questioning, the doors you’ve been waiting on—place them back into God’s hands.

If He has spoken, that is enough. If He has given you peace, trust it. If He has told you not to worry, then worry no longer.
This is your reminder that you don’t have to have it all figured out—you just have to trust the One who does.

So walk forward in strength. Stand firm in courage. And silence every voice of fear with the truth that God is with you—right now, in this moment, and in every step ahead.
Rest in that assurance tonight.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, thank You for reminding me that I am never alone.
When fear tries to rise, anchor me in Your truth. When uncertainty surrounds me, strengthen my heart to trust You fully. Help me to walk in courage, not because I have all the answers, but because You are with me every step of the way.

Tonight, I release every worry into Your hands and rest in the peace of knowing You are already working it out. With a grateful heart, I lift this prayer to you, Lord Jesus. Lord in your mercy, hear my prayer.

May the Peace of the Lord be with you

Family, today’s devotional is a little different and it may not be for everyone.

One of my happiest core memories with my father goes all the way back to when I was five years old. He took me to see The Wiz, and at that age, I thought it was the most amazing thing I had ever experienced. Growing up surrounded by music both in church and at home, that moment stayed with me.

For those who may not be familiar, The Wiz is a beautiful African American adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, originally based on the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. But more than the story, it was the music that captured my heart.

There’s a song woven throughout the film called Ease On Down the Road. One line has stayed with me all these years: “Don’t you carry nothing that might be a load… come on, ease on down the road.”

As a child, I loved the rhythm of it. But as I grew older, I began to hear something deeper.
Every time I hear that song now, I am reminded of the invitation Jesus gives in Gospel of Matthew 11:28–30.

He calls to those who are weary, burdened, and weighed down—and He offers an exchange: bring your heavy loads to Him, and in return, He will give you rest and make your burdens light.

So maybe what sounded like just a song in a movie all those years ago… was echoing a truth my spirit would one day come to understand.

But if we’re honest, many of us are still carrying things we were never meant to hold.
We carry disappointment from prayers that haven’t been answered the way we hoped.
We carry guilt from past mistakes that God has already forgiven—but we keep replaying.
We carry fear about the future, trying to control outcomes that were never ours to manage in the first place.

And all the while, Jesus is still extending the same invitation: “Come to Me.”

Not when you have it all together.
Not when you’ve figured everything out.
But right in the middle of your weariness… your confusion… your heaviness.

To “ease on down the road” in a spiritual sense doesn’t mean life becomes easy—it means you stop carrying it alone.

It means learning to release what is weighing on your spirit and trusting that God is strong enough to hold it.

It means choosing surrender over striving.
It means reminding yourself daily that peace is not found in control—but in Christ.

So tonight, I want to gently ask you:

What are you carrying that God never asked you to hold?

Is it time to finally set it down?

Spirit of the Living God, You see every burden I’ve been carrying—both the ones I speak about and the ones I keep hidden. Tonight, I choose to bring them to You. Teach me how to release what was never mine to hold and to trust You more deeply with every part of my life. Give me the courage to surrender, the faith to let go, and the peace that comes from resting in You. Lord, in your mercy, hear my prayer.

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, most of us understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle—eating right, staying active, and caring for our bodies. These habits are often evaluated during our yearly physicals. Our physicians order bloodwork, lab tests, and specific exams to ensure everything is functioning as it should. These checkups reveal what’s happening beneath the surface—things we may not even feel yet.

In the same way, as Christians, we are called to maintain a healthy spiritual routine. Our walk with God cannot survive on occasional inspiration; it requires intentional, daily discipline. This routine includes prayer, time in God’s Word, worship, reflection, and obedience. These are the spiritual exercises that strengthen our inner man.

When we neglect these practices, our spirit can become weak, weary, and vulnerable. But when we are consistent, something powerful begins to happen within us.

In Romans 5:1–5, Paul lays out a divine progression—a spiritual workout plan, if you will. Because we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. That peace becomes our foundation. But it doesn’t stop there.

Paul tells us that we also glory in our sufferings, because suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. This is the spiritual conditioning that happens when we stay committed to God through every season. Just as physical exercise strengthens the body over time, spiritual discipline strengthens our faith through life’s trials. Prayer builds endurance. The Word develops character.

Worship restores hope. Every moment spent in God’s presence is strengthening your spirit for the journey ahead.

So ask yourself:

What does my daily spiritual workout routine look like?

Are you feeding your faith consistently, or only when trouble comes?

A strong spiritual life is not built in a day, but it is built daily. The more we commit ourselves to God, the stronger we become, and the healthier our spiritual lives will be.

Lord, pour Your love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Remind us that we are never alone, and that every challenge we face is shaping us into who You have called us to be. Give us the discipline to remain faithful in our daily walk with You, even when it is not easy.

Strengthen our spirit, deepen our faith, and keep our eyes fixed on You. Jesus, we lift these prayers to You. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, this evening there is a song that keeps playing in my spirit and my mind. I have always loved traditional hymns because they are the foundation of the worship music we sing today. There is a depth in them—a weight of truth—that still speaks across generations.

The song “At The Cross (Alas, Did My Savior Bleed)” is filling my heart tonight. The lyrics remain just as powerful today as when they were first written by English theologian Isaac Watts in 1707, later joined with the refrain by Ralph E. Hudson in 1885.

Instead of sharing a Scripture passage this evening, I want to offer the lyrics of this hymn. I invite you to sit with them… to truly meditate on the words… and reflect on what the cross means to you personally.

Spirit of the Living God, as I sit with the weight of the cross, let it never become common to me. Remind my heart that Your love was not distant—it was personal.

Jesus, You saw me, even then. You carried what I could not carry, and You chose the cross knowing my name. Let that truth quiet every doubt, humble my pride, and draw me closer to You.

Teach me to live in the grace You paid for… not casually, but with reverence and gratitude. And as I walk forward, let my life reflect the love I have received at the cross. I love you, Lord and I lift this prayer to you. Lord, in your mercy, hear my prayer.

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

This week we reflected on the goodness of God and Jesus as our Perfect Shepherd. Tonight, we lift our eyes a little higher—to a powerful scene in heaven that reveals what true worship looks like.

One of my favorite passages of Scripture is found in Revelation, and it resonates deeply within me as a worshipper. In Revelation 5:9–14, heaven erupts in a new song:

“Worthy are You… for You were slain, and by Your blood You ransomed people for God…”

The worship doesn’t stop there. Every creature in heaven and on earth joins in, declaring:

“To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”

Family, this is not passive worship. This is a response to redemption. The Lamb—Jesus—was found worthy because He gave His life for us.

As I sit with this passage tonight, I am reminded that worship is more than a melody—it is gratitude for the price that was paid. It is surrender to the One who redeemed us.

Even at the end of a long week, when my body is tired, my spirit still responds: Worthy is the Lamb.

So tonight, join in with heaven’s song. Let your worship rise—not because everything is perfect, but because He is.

Tonight, we lay our crowns at Your feet—every burden, every victory, every part of who we are. Teach our hearts to worship You not just with words, but with our lives. Let the song of heaven become the song of our souls:

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty.

Even in our weariness, receive our praise. Even in our quiet moments, be glorified.
You alone are worthy of all honor, all glory, and all power. We lift this prayer and our praise to you. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer and praise to you.

Day 113 of 365: He Knows My Name…

Family, yesterday we reflected on God’s faithfulness—how He continues to love us even when we are not at our best. We revisited the parable Jesus shared about the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to go after the one that is lost.

Here is the beautiful truth about our precious Savior and Shepherd:

Not only does Jesus come after us when we are lost and searching for our way back—He calls us by name.

He knows your name.
He knows my name.

The God who created time and space, who set the stars in place and calls them each by name, knows you personally. He is not distant. He is not guessing. He is not confused about who you are.

When you feel overlooked… He calls your name.
When you feel forgotten… He calls your name.
When you feel unworthy… He still calls your name.

And His voice is not harsh—it is filled with love, compassion, and pursuit.

John 10:2-3

2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, Thank You for being the Shepherd who knows me—truly knows me—not as part of a crowd, but as Your own. You see me, You call me, and You never confuse my voice with another.

Lord Jesus, You said that Your sheep hear Your voice. Teach my heart to recognize You more clearly. Quiet every distraction, every competing voice, every fear that tries to pull me away from Your leading. Help me to lean in, to listen closely, and to trust what I hear when You speak.

When I feel lost, remind me that You are still calling my name. When I feel unseen, remind me that I have always been known by You. When I am hesitant to follow, give me the courage to step forward, knowing that Your voice only leads me into safety, purpose, and life.

Spirit of the Living God, tune my spirit to heaven’s frequency. Let Your voice rise above every other voice, so I may recognize the Shepherd when He calls my name.

Lead me out of what is not for me, and into the paths You have already prepared.

I am known.
I am called.
And I will follow.

Lord, in your mery, hear my prayer.

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, tonight our scripture passage speaks to not growing weary in well doing. I understand the scripture in a different way.

My body is weary. After pouring into healing today, at physical therapy. I feel it in my spine, my hips, my knees. And if I’m honest, my spirit feels it too.

But this verse doesn’t tell me to ignore my weariness. It speaks to me in it.

“Let us not become weary in doing good…”

That means even in doing what is right—even in healing, even in obedience—we can get tired.

“…for at the proper time we will reap a harvest…”

Not always in the moment. Not always when we want it. But God has not forgotten what we’ve sown.

“…if we do not give up.”

And tonight, not giving up simply looks like this: showing up anyway.

Not with perfection. Not with strength. But with honesty.

9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, You see my body and You see my heart. You know where I am weary. Help me not to give up—not by striving harder, but by staying close to You.

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, many of you here in the United States have heard of the book The Color Purple by Alice Walker. It was later made into a movie produced by Steven Spielberg, with music produced by Quincy Jones and Andrae Crouch. There are many layers within the story, but one song in particular weaves a message throughout the film: God Is Trying To Tell You Something.

That song becomes a thread of mercy running through the lives of broken people. Each character had to reach a place where they were ready to truly hear what God was saying.

One character, Shug Avery, was a preacher’s daughter with a very checkered past. Time after time she went before her father longing to be accepted, and time after time he turned his back on her. But when Shug finally returned — not just to her father, but to God — she came differently. She came with repentance. She came with worship. She came with surrender.

Standing before her father in the church, she sang her heart out and declared the unforgettable line:
“See, Pa, even sinners have souls too.”

Family, what am I getting at?

There is no distance we can travel that God cannot reach. There is no darkness so thick that His voice cannot penetrate it. There is nothing He would not do to bring a lost one home.

In Luke 15:3–7, Jesus tells the parable of the lost sheep. He told that story because religious leaders were criticizing Him for welcoming sinners. They could not understand why He would sit, eat, and commune with those considered unworthy.
So Jesus painted a picture: a shepherd with one hundred sheep. When one wanders away, he does not shrug and say, “I still have ninety-nine.” He leaves the ninety-nine and goes after the one — until he finds it.

Until.

Is there someone in your family that others have written off as unredeemable?

Is there someone people whisper about? Avoid? Dismiss?

Family, from my heart to yours — treat every person you meet as if they matter deeply to God. No matter how they look. No matter what they are wearing. No matter the lifestyle they may be living.

Drugs. Gambling. Prostitution. Stealing. Lying.
God still loves them.

And when a lost soul cries out to Him, He does not ignore that cry. He pursues. He searches. He restores.

After all… we were them once, weren’t we?

3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, Thank You for being the Shepherd who searches for the one. Thank You for never writing us off when we wandered far from You. Forgive us for the times we have judged others as unreachable or unworthy. Give us Your heart for the lost, Your patience to love well, and Your humility to remember where You found us. May we reflect Your mercy in a world quick to condemn. We lift this prayer to the Chief Intercessor, Redeemer  and Lover of our souls, Christ Jesus. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

And we let it be…And so it is

Greetings, Precious Family:

Family, this evening I was meditating on the Scripture passage where the Apostle Paul asked Christ Jesus to remove the thorn from his flesh. This passage has always intrigued me because nearly every other time someone came to Jesus seeking healing, they received it.

Paul endured persecution, physical ailments, spiritual attacks, and deep personal struggles. We know that Jesus has the power to heal — so why, in this instance, did He not honor Paul’s request?

As you read the passage below, pay close attention to Paul’s testimony in verse ten. There is a revelation hidden there — one that shifts our understanding of strength, suffering, and the sufficiency of grace.

Sometimes the miracle is not removal — it is sustaining grace.

2 Corinthians 12:6-10

6 For even if I wish to boast, I will not be a fool, for I would be telling[a] the truth, but I refrain from this so that no one may regard[b] me beyond what he sees in me or what he hears from me, 7 even because of the extraordinary character of the revelations. Therefore,[c] so that I would not become arrogant, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to trouble[d] me—so that I would not become arrogant.[e] 8 I asked the Lord three times about this, that it would depart from me. 9 But[f] he said to me, “My grace is enough[g] for you, for my[h] power is made perfect[i] in weakness.” So then, I will boast most gladly[j] about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may reside in[k] me. 10 Therefore I am content with[l] weaknesses, with insults, with troubles, with persecutions and difficulties[m] for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, we come before You humbled by the mystery of Your ways. When we ask for relief and You respond with grace instead of removal, help us trust that You see what we cannot.

Teach us what it means to be strong in weakness. Quiet the parts of us that demand immediate deliverance, and awaken in us a deeper dependence on You.

If the thorn remains, let Your grace be louder than our pain. If the struggle lingers, let Your strength be perfected in us.

We surrender our expectations and receive Your sufficiency. We lift this prayer to our Chief Intercessor and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Lord in your mercy hear our prayer.

And we let it be…And so it is…
