Love Is…

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

I woke up this morning with a spirit of gratefulness and love. In 2015, God allowed my husband to find me. We were married on December 18, 2015. Yes, today is our anniversary.  The first few years of marriage were so exciting and fun, full of travel, adventures, and new love. We were in complete and total Bliss.

Then, 2021 came, and all of our vows were tested. All of our vows…for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health and all the places and phases that life found us.

My husband and I have had to learn what love “looks like” will take different shapes and forms, depending on what season we are currently going through. There is no ONE way to love. Each season has taught us new and different ways to love each other.

Beginning in 2016, I began to officiate weddings. There is a reason that 1st Corinthians 13 is called the “Love Chapter” in the Bible. As Christians, we have a different model to follow than the world does. As a married couple, we are modeling Christ to each other.

Holy Scriptures

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

English Standard Version

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[a] it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.8 Love never ends, or fails.

Love Song

This week’s worship song is a little different. It is not a worship song, in the traditional sense, but it is mine and my husband’s song.

Babyface – Exceptional

Family, I would like to wish each and every one of you a very happy and healthy holiday season. May you celebrate the birth of God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, Our Emmanuel.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I will return in 2025 with more devotionals – if God allows it to be.

Your sister,

Rev. Marcia Davis

  1. Happy Anniversary to you and your husband! May God continue to bless your union now and forever. My husband and I have attended so many marriage conferences, and one of the things we learned was our marriage is a ministry and just like church ministry, we are to honor and glorify God in it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
