“Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Job 1:20-21

English Standard Version

20 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Our Prayer

Father God,

Thank you for loving us enough to want the very best for us. When we are headed in a direction that is dangerous, thank you for loving us enough to change our direction, even if we kick and scream.

Thank you for loving us enough that when you see “dis-ease” in us you want to remove it and correct the problem. The scalpel of God is painful, but it is necessary to save our lives. We understand that the REMOVAL of the disease of pride, anger, greed, hatred or any other thing, that keeps us away from the will of God is the most loving thing God could do, no matter what the cost.

Father God we repent and ask you to heal our heart and our lives. We want our response to be like your servant Job’s when he said, “Blessed be the name of the Lord.” Give us the kind of heart, Lord, that no matter what comes, we can say, “Thank You,” because we know that you are working things out for our Good. In Jesus name, Amen.
