Be Prepared. Be Victorious…

temptation

Good morning, Redeemed Family:

This morning is day six of our seven day journey into the Lord’s Prayer. We will take our time to break down all seven sentences of the New King James Version of Matthew 6:9-13.

Today, we focus on the first sentence verse 13, “13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.”

In this verse of The Lord’s Prayer, Jesus is speaking and teaching about keeping our heart and mind free from what may cause us to pull away from the presence of God. Guard your heart. You are precious to God.

This is what the Amplified Translation  Bible says about temptation and the enemy:

1 Peter 5:8-11

Amplified Bible (AMP)

Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. But resist him, be firm in your faith [against his attack—rooted, established, immovable], knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being experienced by your brothers and sisters throughout the world. [You do not suffer alone.] 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace [who imparts His blessing and favor], who called you to His own eternal glory in Christ, will Himself complete, confirm, strengthen, and establish you [making you what you ought to be]. 11 To Him be dominion (power, authority, sovereignty) forever and ever. Amen.

The bible also tells us how to stand our ground:

Ephesians 6:10-13

Contemporary English Version (CEV)

The Fight against Evil

10 Finally, let the mighty strength of the Lord make you strong. 11 Put on all the armor that God gives, so you can defend yourself against the devil’s tricks. 12 We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world. 13 So put on all the armor that God gives. Then when that evil day comes, you will be able to defend yourself. And when the battle is over, you will still be standing firm.

Matthew 6:9-13

New King James Version (NKJV)

In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Go in peace, family, while serving the Lord.
