Greetings, Precious Family:
May the Peace of the Lord be with you.
Family, have you ever had to carry in a lot of groceries from the car? In school, did you have to tote book bags that weighed a ton? Isn’t it such a relief to put down something that is heavy?
For me, taking off the weight is literal. I have to lose weight because of what the extra unnecessary weight is doing to my body.
The Bible talks about taking the weight off of anything that ensnare or hinders us from our high calling in Jesus Christ.
Scripture Passage of the Day
Hebrews 12:1-2
Amplified Bible
Jesus, the Example
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of [a]witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us, 2 [looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, [b]disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God [revealing His deity, His authority, and the completion of His work].
Let Us Pray
Spirit of the Living God, thank you for reminding us that there are certain things we were never supposed to carry. Let us remember that we have a higher purpose and calling that is before us. Remind us to do a self check to make sure we are not carrying anything that would slow us down or derail us from our mission in Christ Jesus. It is in the name of Jesus that we lift up this prayer.
And we let it be…And so it is
Amen, Amen, and Amen
