Day 46 of 365: A Servant’s Heart

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, tomorrow I will be traveling for a funeral to my hometown. In thinking about her, I can’t help but think about a mother’s love. Specifically, I thought about Mary, the mother of Jesus, when she was told that she would give birth to the Son of God in the first chapter of the Gospel of Luke.

Mary had a servant’s heart and had a beautiful love for God. Even when Mary was told by the angel Gabriel that she would give birth to the Son of God, her response was still that of a joyful and humble servant’s heart. 38 Mary said, “I am the servant of the Lord. Let this happen to me as you say!”

Scripture Passage of the Day

Luke 1:46-50
New International Version

Mary’s Song

46 And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for giving us reminders all throughout your Word of how much you desire a servant’s heart. May we always remember that we were created to worship and serve you. You have called us to be your hands and feet to all we meet. May we forever be ambassadors of your love. In Jesus’ name, we pray.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen
