Day 13 of 365: In the Spirit and In Truth

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you always.

This evening, I was praying on what to write the devotion about, so I got myself still and quiet and just began to listen. After a few minutes of silence, I was led, by the Holy Spirit, to the Gospel of John, specifically the fourth chapter, when Jesus is leaving Judea and heading back to Galilee but he had to go through Samaria to get to Galilee.

Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well and gives her a prophetic word regarding her life. She recognized Jesus as a prophet but did not fully understand that he was the fulfillment of scriptures (The Living Water). She was somewhat confused because tradition said that if Jewish people wanted to worship that they needed to worship in Jerusalem. How could Jesus speak of worshipping God in the middle of Samaria. This was his response to her regarding how and where to worship:

19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for dwelling with us like only you can. Thank you for teaching us how to worship you. May we forever be sensitive to your presence and to your move. May we never become complacent or comfortable if you are not in the midst of our worship. Thank you for reminding us that worshipping you does not require us to be in a place or building, but instead, true worship is led by you, and it unlocks and opens the secret things of God. It is in the precious name of Jesus that we lift this prayer to heaven. May it be a fragrant offering.

Day 12 of 365: The Promise

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, one of the aspects that I enjoy the most in having a personal relation with Jesus is knowing that there is nothing that can ever separate me from God’s love.

The only way that I could ever be separated from God is if I separate myself. One of the things my mother would always tell me is, “If you feel distanced or separated from God, it was you who moved… not God.”

May we always strive to grow closer to God every day and not further away. 🙏

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for always desiring to spend time and dwell with us. You have always promised to be there for all who call out to you, including the tired, weary, depressed, sick, lonely, afraid, or a multitude of other things. Thank you for your sacrifice so that we could learn what it means to walk with you. In the precious and perfect name of Jesus our Lord.

Day 11 of 365: The Most Precious Gift

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

When we talk about the uniqueness of Jesus, we have to remember what made him the perfect gift to us. I was confirmed and raised, mostly in the Lutheran Church (ELCA). One of the things I loved the most was the liturgical service and saying the Nicene Creed. Through the creed, it gives the lineage of Christ from birth to his resurrection by taking different Scriptures from the Bible. The most important aspect of the creed is the gift and sacrifice of Jesus.

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Prayer of the Day

Spirit of the Living God, you created us to worship you in spirit and in truth. In the Old Testament people had to sacrifice perfect and unblemished animals in order to get close to you, but because of your love for us, You took the form of man and you became the perfect sacrifice for all eternity. May we never take for granted your most precious gift. It is in Jesus name that we can come to the Throne Room with these prayers.

Day 10 of 365: My Soul Says Yes

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the abundant and everlasting peace of the Lord be with you always.

Family, in this Season of saying “Yes” to God, I pray that we all will become more sensitive to the voice and unction of the Holy Spirit. I know that everyone who is reading this may not be a lover of God. In fact, many people have varying degrees of hurt and pain caused by people inside the church. That is one of the reasons I began writing. Each reader will be able to take their own journey with God.

I pray that over the course of this year that hearts will be healed, and someone will return to God in a new way. Intimacy with God can take many forms, not just inside the church. If that is you, I love you with the everlasting and never-ending love of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Savior, Redeemer, and Chief Intercessor at the right hand of God.

Spirit of the Living God. We are listening and ready for what you have called us to do. May we answer only to your voice. Cover and protect us as we step out to do the will of God the Father. Walk this walk with us as we draw closer to you. May lives be changed by our obedience to you. In Jesus name.

Day 9 of 365: The Season of Yes

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

I know it is very late, but I am not going to bed this year without posting a devotional message, no matter how my body is feeling.

The Apostle Paul wrote most of the New Testament. It is amazing how much of an impact the transformation of one man’s life has made. That is why I never give up on anyone because it is not over until God says it’s over. It’s never too late to say, “Yes” to Jesus.

Spirit of the Living God. Let our response to you always be “Yes”. We know that if you called us that you have already prepared the way for whatever you are asking us to do. Thank you for your grace for the assignment you have called us to take. Our answer is Yes. In the name and power of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Day 8 of 365: Showing Up

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Today is a day that I am in bed early because my body is in so much pain. However, one thing I did today was show up. I may not have shown up at 100%, but I pressed and did what God gave me the strength to do. We have to remember that our walk is not always about us. You would be surprised by how many people need your light, presence, and energy. One of the things I always say is, “Showing up is half the battle.”

Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV):

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, we humbly ask you to remind us daily of the work that is still ahead of us. Give us strength and joy to walk out the high calling that is set before us. Help us not to grow weary in well doing. The reward is knowing that we pleased you. It is the name of Jesus that we pray.

Day 7 of 365: Pace Yourself

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Another evening has come, and my day is finally quiet enough for me to really listen. One of the things we must remember is that the journey on our respective paths is not a race. Please allow each step to be purposeful and meaningful. Make room for the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you. Study the sacred Scriptures so that when you need it the most, it can come back to your remembrance.

Day 6 of 365: The Breath

Greetings Family,

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

We have almost come to the first seven days of the new year. If I can remind all of us of just one thing to do every day, it would be to take a long breath and breathe slowly. Don’t think about anything else but your breathing. Fill your lungs filling up with healing air, and as you exhale, know that the Creator of all things is living in you.

Day 5 of 365: The Processing

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

As my day comes to a close and I think about our 365-day devotional journey together, we have to consider several factors coming ahead.

First, we have to know that as we walk this journey and go deeper and deeper into our divine nature, there will be a processing  that will not allow us to stay the same. Be prepared for change. We can not go higher and stay in the same place at the same time. You will have to decide which path you are going to take. Both paths will cost something.

Day 4 of 365: The Cost

On day four of our year-long devotional journey, I would like to continue our discussion of preparation. Specifically, as we continue our preparation to go deeper in our spiritual journey, we must also consider what our decision will cost us.

Spirit of the Living God, we thank you for all you gave in human form as Jesus Christ. Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice you made in order for us to have an intimate relationship with you. May we humbly and soberly realize that this journey will also cause us to make sacrifices as well, in order to draw closer to you. May we easily let go of anything that tries to keep us in a stagnant spiritual place. We desire to draw closer to you. In the name and power of our Lord and Redeemer, Jesus, The Christ.
