Day 23/24 of 365: Favor

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, one of the blessings that comes with walking in obedience to the Cross of Jesus Christ, is an abundance of favor. What is favor you ask? The favor of God feels like a warm hug and open doors, even when I didn’t ask for it and definitely didn’t deserve it.

The reason is that God promised to do exceedingly and abundantly more than I can ask or think, as long as I walk in obedience and truth.

God promised that if I delight myself in Him, that he would give me the desires of my heart. If you don’t believe me, just read below.

Remember this… the blessing is a two-way street. Delight your heart in the Lord, THEN the blessings will come.

Scripture Passage of the Day

Psalm 37:3-7
New International Version

3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for loving me, even when I was unlovable. Thank you for seeing me as perfect, because of Jesus’s blood sacrifice and victory over the grave. Thank you for giving me access to blessings, favor, and peace even when I didn’t deserve it. I humbly bow before you in holy reverence. Holy are you, Lord. In Jesus name.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 22 of 365: Still

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, I have said so many times before that music is my first love. I especially have a special soft place in my heart for songwriters. One of my favorite worshippers and songwriters is Jonathan McReynolds.

Today’s devotional is going to be a little bit different. Today, I am sharing a snippet of the lyrics to the song “Still” sung by Jonathan McReynolds and Jamal Roberts. Please read the lyrics carefully and then think about the magnificent and beautiful grace of God.

The songwriters are:

Britney Delagraentiss / David Lamar Outing III / Jonathan McReynolds / Orlando Joel Palmer / Terrell Demetrius Wilson

Still

Never, could I imagine
A Father so holy, patient, and kind
Would choose to stay right beside me
WHen He knows the shadows that come with the light
And He sees all the things I don’t want to be seen
And He Hears every whisper as if they were screams
And He still, He still loves me
Now, could you imagine
Someone as broken and wretched as me
Could be welcomed into his family
Given a hope and a destiny, ooh
And He sees where I am
And He knows where I’ve been
And He knows the whole story
From beginning to end
And He still, He still
See, He sees every flaw and every mistake
But there’s nothing I can do to push Him away
And He still, He still
He still-, He still
He still-, He still loves me (He still loves me)
Yeah, ohh

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, your grace and mercy takes my breath away every time I think about the depth, width, and height of your love. Your love amazes me every single day. May we never take your grace and unending love for granted. In the name of Jesus we do pray.

And we let it be…And so it is

Amen…Amen…Amen

Day 21 of 365: The Healing Journey

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, when I was in the last year of my masters degree, one of the things that we were taught is that before we help heal anyone else, God will work on healing us.

It was recommended that we get counseling while training to be counselors, due the nature of what might resurface as we progress in our degree.

In the same way, the Lord wants to heal us before we can move further in our journey. Are there any areas that God wants to heal in you? Let Him do it. He’ll heal, if you would just allow him.

Scripture of the Day

Isaiah 61:1-3
New International Version
The Year of the Lord’s Favor

61 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, how majestic is your name. Thank you for your love toward us. Thank you for your grace toward us. Lead us and guide us as only you can to the Path of our perfect healing. We yield to your will and say, “Have your way,” because we don’t want any part of us to stand in the way of being used by you. In Jesus name we do do pray.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 20 of 365: Training Camp

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, there many times in life that we will have to go through some type of training. Whether that training is school, college, boot camp, or on the job training. Training is essential if we want to advance. Even the Bible talks about training.

Scripture of the Day

James 1:2-4
New International Version

Trials and Temptations

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Prayer of the Day

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for loving us enough not to leave us the way you found us. Thank you for our training in the form of tests and trials that we face. May our obedience help us to learn even quicker. Either way, may your will be done on earth and in our lives as it has been spoken and declared in heaven. It’s in Jesus’ name we do pray.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 19 of 365: Love

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is quoted to have said, “Darkness can not drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate can not drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Love, the pure love that comes from the Infinite Source of God is a love that is incomprehensible. It is love that transcends time, space, and, yes, even hate. The Bible speaks clearly about God’s love and its power.

Scripture of the Day

1 Corinthians 13:13
New International Version

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, we give you thanks, honor, and glory for allowing us to be your hands and feet. May everyone we meet see you before they see us. May we leave your sweet fragrance in everyone’s life. In the sweet name of Jesus we do pray.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen…

Day 18 of 365: Send Judah First

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, yesterday we talked about the importance of the structure of the Lord’s Prayer and how crucial it was, and still is, to give God praise before we ask for anything.

In the Bible, whenever there was a battle that needed to be fought and won, God would command for the Tribe of Judah to go first. Why, because praise sets the atmosphere for God to move.

In Hebrew: יְהוּדָה (Yehudah)
Meaning: “Praised,” “Thanksgiving,” or “Celebrated”
Root: From the Hebrew verb yada (יָדָה), meaning “to praise” or “to thank”.

Scripture of the Day

Judges 20:18
King James Version

18 And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the Lord said, Judah shall go up first.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for loving us enough to create us to worship you. Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice of the death of your only Son, Jesus, in order to create a path to intimate worship with you through his resurrection.  What an amazing love you have for us. May our worship be evident in every area of our lives in thought, word, and deed. In the name of our Redeemer and Chief Intercessor, Jesus Christ.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 17 of 365: The Lord’s Prayer

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

When I began thinking about how to pray, my heart always goes back to The Lord’s Prayer. It is the ultimate road map that covers the perfect format of a prayer.

The importance of starting each prayer by giving God glory and honor is the most important aspect. Jesus taught his disciples to never ask God for anything until they have given glory, honor, and worship to God.

Scripture of the Day

Matthew 6:7-13
New International Version

7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, we bless your holy name. We place nothing before you and know that you are our source and strength. Guide us in your perfect will so that we may be in tune with heaven. In Jesus’ name.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 16 of 365: Dancing Like David

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, if you don’t know me by now, one of the things you have to know is that my love language is music. One of my favorite writers in the Bible is David. David was a man who knew how to worship, and he loved music.

Worship music is typically slower and more melodic, but every once in a while, a song will come along that will make you grab your spiritual warfare gear and your dance shoes at the same time. Sometimes, when you dance, everyone is not going to like it or even understand it. Never let anyone or anything stop you from giving God praise.

Today’s Worship video is that kind of song for me. I truly hope you dance like David on this song.

Scripture Passage of the Day

2 Samuel 6:14-15
New International Version

14 Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, 15 while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets.

Prayer of the Day

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for allowing there to be so much joy in my worship. May there never be a day that goes by that I don’t tell you, “Thank You”. You, Lord, are my highest joy. May there always be a dance in my heart, even when my body is weak. In Jesus’ name.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 15 of 365: Forever Faithful

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, one of the many, many, many beautiful characteristics of our Lord God is God’s faithfulness toward us, even when we don’t deserve it.

There are so many times when God has shown up and done exactly what was promised, even when I thought all hope was lost.

The love and faithfulness of God surpasses all understanding. Every time I pour my praise on God, I am always sure to first give thanks and praise for God’s faithfulness.

Scripture of the Day

Psalm 89:1-2
New International Version
Psalm 89[a]

A maskil[b] of Ethan the Ezrahite.

1 I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known
through all generations.
2 I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, how many ways can we say thank you to you? There are not enough languages that can hold all the praise I want to give you. Your faithfulness toward me brings me to my knees. May I never take your faithfulness as something common. I know that it is as precious as pure gold. I love and thank you. In Jesus’ name, I lift this prayer to you.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen…

Day 14 of 365: Learning To Soar

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, one of the most majestic sights I have ever seen, is when I watch an injured eagle be rehabilitated for months and then set free into the wild again.

When it was time to transition the eagle from the nature preserve, where it had received all of it care, the caretakers placed a small blindfold type hood over its head and placed it in the travel crate. After a steep drive up a mountain, the caretaker arrived at the release destination and took the eagle out of the crate, and removed the blindfold from its head. The caretaker gave the eagle a high toss in the air, and it began flapping upward. When it got to the perfect altitude, the eagle stopped flapping its wings and just began to soar. It was breathtakingly beautiful. In that moment, the Word of God came alive…

Scripture Passage of the Day

Isaiah 40:28-31
New International Version

28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Prayer of the Day

Spirit of the Living God, we bless your Holy name. Help us to remember that our strength comes from you. In our flesh we can do nothing, but in you we can mount up and soar. You are our hiding place. May we forever be in the shadow of your wings. In Jesus name.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen
