Speak Life…

Proverbs 18:21

The Message (MSG)

21 Words kill, words give life;
    they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.

The above scripture passage is probably most familiarly read as “Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” However, I chose the Message Bible translation because it is so transparent, as it simply says, “Words kill, words give life.”

Why is it so important to be conscious of our words? Words can leave scars or they can be healing.

Do you remember a time when someone spoke an affirming word to You? Do you remember how good it made you feel? In the same way, do you remember when someone spoke a harsh or unkind word and how it made you feel. The hurt of destructive words can sometimes last minutes, hours, days or even years.

I always tell people, “Make sure, when you leave a room or finish a conversation, that you leave it better than you found it.”

Speak Life, in every situation. Even if you don’t see eye to eye, speak with love and not death.

Today’s worship video is entitled, “Speak Life” and it is performed by TobyMac.

Set Sail…

20170823_073345

Good morning. What do you think of when you hear the phrase to “Set Sail?”

Most people think of a boat opening up her sails and beginning the voyage on the sea. I think of the beginning of an unknown adventure that is both exciting and a little bit scary.

The one thing that gives me comfort is the fact that the captain of the vessel is someone that has plenty experience on the water. Even if the waters get a little rough during the journey, I still trust the experience of the captain.

In the gospel of Mark we see Jesus as the Captain and Conquer of the sea.

Mark 4:35-41

New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Calms the Storm

35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

If Jesus asks us to get in the boat, please understand that he has already made a way for us to get to other side. Whatever storms may come in your life, remember who is the Captain.

The Cost…

Good morning, Beautiful Beams of Light.

May we all shine brilliantly today and every day. No, not for our glory, but for the glory and kingdom of God.

Please know and understand that shinning for God’s glory will eventually cost something. Living for God, whatever that looks like in your life, will require a sacrifice.

The Cost may be a friendship. The cost may be giving up an addiction. The Cost may be stepping out in faith and starting that new company or ministry. The cost may be moving to a different state where you have no family or friends. If you are single, the cost may be waiting a little bit longer to date because God needs to continue a good work in you, with no distractions.

However, for EVERYTHING that it may costs us,  the greatest return is for God to be glorified. If one life is changed because of our obedience to God, how much more will we be blessed?

May we continually hunger and thirst for God. May God be lifted up in and through us.

Matthew 5:14-16

English Standard Version (ESV)

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Always remember that I love you ALL, with an amazing and everlasting Love.

Your Destiny, God’s Promise…

2 Chronicles 7:14

King James Version (KJV)

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Good morning,

It’s Monday morning. I hope everyone had a great weekend. Monday’s at Sacred Journey means that it is time to pray. I pray that all hearts and minds are connected as we go to the Throne Room of God in prayer.

Father God, Everlasting Lord, we come to you early this morning to tell you that we love you and to tell you Thank You.

Thank you, Father, for wanting the very best for us. Thank you for placing a call on each of our lives to serve you and honor you based on the gifts and talents you have given us.

We pray that nothing would get in the way of us fulfilling our destiny. May we seek your face every day and be diligent in our work for the Kingdom.

We pray for our local, national and world leaders. We pray for their humility and submission to you. Lead them in the way they should go.

We pray for the protection of our families as they go about their day. May every scheme, trap, and trick of the Deceiver be canceled and destroyed, in Jesus name.

We pray for a continued burning passion and hunger for your presence in our lives. May we never be luke-warm toward you.

We seal this prayer with the redeeming blood of the Savior, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Risen King. Amen, Amen and Amen.

Family, I pray that your feet would be firm today as you stand for what is right in the Eyes of the Lord. Let nothing or no one get you off track from your destiny. The world needs your gifts, talents and anointing. Be vigilant. Be watchful.

הַלְלוּיָה (Hallelujah)

It’s “Move the Furniture” Praise Friday!

What better way to end our week than by giving God the Highest Praise. Why is hallelujah called the Highest Praise?

The word halal is the source of “Hallelujah,” a Hebrew expression of “praise” to God.

Psalm 148

The Message (MSG)

148 1-5 Hallelujah!
Praise God from heaven,
    praise him from the mountaintops;
Praise him, all you his angels,
    praise him, all you his warriors,
Praise him, sun and moon,
    praise him, you morning stars;
Praise him, high heaven,
    praise him, heavenly rain clouds;
Praise, oh let them praise the name ofGod
    he spoke the word, and there they were!

He set them in place
    from all time to eternity;
He gave his orders,
    and that’s it!

7-12 Praise God from earth,
    you sea dragons, you fathomless ocean deeps;
Fire and hail, snow and ice,
    hurricanes obeying his orders;
Mountains and all hills,
    apple orchards and cedar forests;
Wild beasts and herds of cattle,
    snakes, and birds in flight;
Earth’s kings and all races,
    leaders and important people,
Robust men and women in their prime,
    and yes, graybeards and little children.

13-14 Let them praise the name of God
    it’s the only Name worth praising.
His radiance exceeds anything in earth and sky;
    he’s built a monument—his very own people!

Praise from all who love God!
    Israel’s children, intimate friends of God.
Hallelujah

I know we have so much to praise God for this week. As you being to thank God this morning, give your praises out loud. Fill the atmosphere with thanksgiving and praise to God.

You will be surprised what happens when you continually and audibly give praises to God.

Are you ready? Ok, then let’s start opening our mouth this morning as we praise God with Judith Christie McAlister as she sings High Praise / Hallelujah.

The Living God…

Some people believe that God is no longer relevant, in today’s time, but I truly believe that now, more than ever, we need to call on God.

God has called each of us to be his instruments. May we continually hold up the banner of our risen and glorious Savior.

Revelation 1:12-19

Living Bible (TLB)

12 When I turned to see who was speaking, there behind me were seven candlesticks of gold. 13 And standing among them was one who looked like Jesus, who called himself the Son of Man, wearing a long robe circled with a golden band across his chest. 14 His hair was white as wool or snow,  and his eyes penetrated like flames of fire. 15 His feet gleamed like burnished bronze, and his voice thundered like the waves against the shore. 16 He held seven stars in his right hand and a sharp, double-bladed sword in his mouth,  and his face shone like the power of the sun in unclouded brilliance.

17-18 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead; but he laid his right hand on me and said, Don’t be afraid! Though I am the First and Last, the Living One who died, who is now alive forevermore, who has the keys of hell and death—don’t be afraid! 19 Write down what you have just seen and what will soon be shown to you.

I believe the Newsboys really captured today’s worship video entitled, “God’s Not Dead.”

Open the Eyes of My Heart, Lord…

A letter from Paul

Ephesians 1:15-21

New International Version (NIV)

Thanksgiving and Prayer

15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

What a powerful and encouraging letter from Paul. I pray that our eyes would be continually open so that we never miss what God is trying to tell us, show us, or teach us. Amen

I pray that you have a wonderful day in the Lord. I love you with an AMAZING Love.

Surrendering to Victory…

I know the title of this daily devotional may sound a little odd, like an oxymoron, but it will make sense soon.

There are very few times when surrending brings a victory, but in the case of surrendering total control of your life to God, surrendering brings complete victory.

What does surrender look like?

Job 11:13-15

Contemporary English Version (CEV)

Surrender Your Heart to God

13 Surrender your heart to God,
    turn to him in prayer,
14 and give up your sins—
    even those you do in secret.
15 Then you won’t be ashamed;
you will be confident
    and fearless.

What does surrender proclaim?

Galatians 2:20

New American Standard Bible:

“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

What does surrender do?

Matthew 16:24-25

New International Version (NIV)

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their lifewill lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.

What song does surrender sing?

Victory In Jesus!!!

Good morning,  to you all. It is the start of another week, which means it’s time to pray and set the tone for week.

Please join me in prayer.

Father, God, we thank you that we get to start today and every day with You on our mind. Guide us, oh great Jehovah, and lead in the way we should go. We love on you this morning, God. Before we pray another word we say, “Thank You.”

Father, there is turmoil and hatred in our country and around the world. We pray that the hearts’ of man would be changed. We pray for unity, love, understanding, and peace for our country. Let those of us who have a personal relationship with you, God, shine even brighter in these dark days. Let us remember that we have the victory, over sin and death, as we are redeemed by the blood of the risen Lamb. Use us Father as you see fit. We are your servants and your hands and feet. We seal this prayer in the name of your Son, Jesus, the Christ. Amen.

1 Corinthians 15:57-58

New International Version (NIV)

57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Put A Praise On It…

Family, what day is it!!!!!

It’s move the furniture Friday. It’s time to get our praise on. Anything that is in your way of “dancing like David danced,” it needs to be moved.

Call in the family and worship God together!!!

What are you Praising God for today, this week, or even this month?

I’m praising God for multiplied joy, happiness and peace. I’m praising God for a loving family. I’m praising God for allowing my husband and I to go back to school.

I’m praising God that he has placed our family in an amazing church, with a pastor who is an incredible teacher. Im praising God even for the blessings that haven’t manifested yet. I believe in praising God ahead of time because I know he is faithful to perform every miracle, blessing, healing or deliverance. I could go on and on about why I’m praising God, but right now I’m ready to start praise dancing.

Psalm 146

New International Version (NIV)

Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord, my soul.

I will praise the Lord all my life;
    I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Do not put your trust in princes,
    in human beings, who cannot save.
When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
    on that very day their plans come to nothing.
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
    whose hope is in the Lord their God.

He is the Maker of heaven and earth,
    the sea, and everything in them—
    he remains faithful forever.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed
    and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
    the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
    the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the foreigner
    and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
    but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

10 The Lord reigns forever,
    your God, O Zion, for all generations.

Praise the Lord.
