Doing Whatever It Takes…

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you always.

Family, it is 3:35 am Wednesday morning, here in Covington, Georgia. I pray that this week’s letter finds you well.

The Holy Spirit woke me up this morning with a message for us. The first thing I heard in my Spirit was, “I had to make sure you wanted it bad enough and that you would do whatever it took to reach your goals. Never take my provisions for granted.”

In my case, the Holy Spirit was speaking of my journey to completing my Masters degree. I have had so many hurdles trying to finish my goals. It seems like one road block after another. Some of the road blocks were created in consequence to decisions that I made.

After many months of setbacks, I was willing to do anything and go anywhere to complete my goal. I was willing to drive to other states, stay in hotels, and be away from my family in order to finish this race. Nothing was going to stand in my way. It was at this point of desperation that God opened a door less than 30 minutes from my house. God whispered to me, “I had to see that you were willing to do whatever it took to cross into your “Promise Land.” Your “Moses” was keeping you from entering in. I had to wait for you to have a Joshua spirit before I could allow you to enter.””

Family, when I say I felt ALL of that word from God!!! Whew, I felt it, and I repented for my previous attitude and soiled entitlement. I am humbled that God has now allowed me to enter my Promised Land just 30 minutes from my house.

Holy Scriptures

Joshua 1:1-6

New Catholic Bible

The Conquest of the Promised Land[a]

Chapter 1

Assurance of Divine Aid.

After the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord, the Lord spoke to Joshua, the son of Nun, the assistant of Moses, saying, [b]“Moses my servant is dead. Rise, therefore, and cross over this Jordan, you and all of this people, to the land that I am giving to them, the people of Israel. Every place that you set your feet down, I have given to you, as I promised to Moses. Your territory will extend from the Desert of Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all of the land of the Hittites, and as far as the great sea on the west. No one will be able to withstand you, all the days of your life. I will treat you just as I treated Moses, for I will never forsake nor abandon you. So be strong and take courage, for you will lead these people to inherit the land that I promised to their forefathers to give them.

Family, please walk with humbled-obedience and passion for the purposes God put on your life. Never take God’s provision and blessings for granted, as it may cost so much if you do. The journey that should have taken 4 days may take 40 years if you’re not ready.

I should have been finished with school months ago, but God knew some things had to be broken off in my life. I was originally called under the mantle of Moses, but I received the blessing of the Promise Land under the mantle of Joshua.

Now, I’m ready…

Don’t Get Distracted…

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord always be with you.

At the time I’m writing this letter, it is around 4:05 am on Wednesday morning in Covington, Georgia. The Holy Spirit woke me up and directed me to start praying about a matter.

The Holy Spirit of God was very clear in Its instruction for how I am to conduct my day, as I pray on this certain matter. My main instruction was to, “Stay in a place/mindset of holiness.” The second instruction from the Holy Spirit of God was, “Don’t get distracted.”

When God is preparing us for a purpose, assignment, mission, calling, or battle, we must be obedient and be in a mindset of holiness. I don’t mean holiness in terms of what some may think of as an outward showing, appearance, or spectacle. The maintenance of holiness I am speaking of is in the hardest battleground that we will ever face. Not only is the battleground challenging, but it’s also Invisible. The battleground I’m speaking of is the Mind.

Every decision we make begins in the Mind. Every thought we think has a purpose and carries weight. Will our decisions add light into the world, or will it add darkness? Will the decisions we make lead us to disobedience and sin, or will it lead to maturity and strength in the Lord.

The Word of God is very clear when it comes to how we should manage our thoughts.

Holy Scriptures

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

New International Version

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Songs of Worship

Family, we are entering a season and time where we can not be distracted by what we see, feel, taste, or hear. We must set aside everything that may try to get our minds off the mission that God has given us.

My orders may be different from yours, but my obedience is the same. I have been given instructions, and I accept the mission and orders I have been given.

I pray your strength in the Lord. May the Light of Christ shine with you, on you, and through you so that it may draw others to Him. Don’t get distracted. Finish the Mission.

Oh How He Loves…

Good morning, Family:

I pray this letter finds you well and dwelling in the perfect peace of the Lord.

One thing I have been praying for is that God would help me go deeper in my devotional time and for my time to be more consistent. The reason is that at some point I started squeezing God out of my day.

There was a time in my life that I would wake up singing and giving my highest praises to God. As a result, I stayed in the ever-flowing stream of God’s consciousness. Spiritual knowledge came to me quickly and effortlessly. I have read the Bible cover to cover more times than I can remember.

However, when life began getting more busy and the hours of my day were filled with so much activity, my time with God suffered. I was either too tired or too encumbered to add God back into my day. Lately, I have been so hungry to get back to that place of intimacy.

This morning, I woke up with God on my mind. The script that came to me was John 3:16, which is a very popular scripture. God pushed me to read the entire passage. I had forgotten that the entire passage had a deeper revelation.

Scriptures of Life and Light

John 3:16-21

New Catholic Bible

16 “For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may attain eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world
to condemn the world
but in order that the world might be saved through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned,
but whoever does not believe in him
already stands condemned,
because he has not believed in the name
of the only-begotten Son of God.
19 “And the judgment is this:
the light has come into the world,
but people preferred darkness to light
because their deeds were evil.
20 Everyone who does evil hates the light
and avoids coming near the light
so that his misdeeds may not be exposed.
21 However, whoever lives by the truth
comes to the light
so that it may be clearly seen
that his deeds have been done
in God.”

Family, John 3 has so much of a message. It is so much deeper than a single verse. John 3’s main message is about love in action and the characteristics of love that has been redeemed by the perfect and pure sacrifice of the cross.

I love you with the amazing and everlasting love of our Lord and Redeemer Jesus, The Christ.

When Life is Lifing…

Greetings, Precious Family:

I pray this week’s letter finds you abiding in the perfect peace of our Lord. The same peace that calmed the storm, just by Jesus speaking to it by saying, “Peace, Be still.”

One thing that stays consistently true is that life can and does throw us curve balls. The term people are using now is, “Life be lifing.” Which essentially means that they have faced some challenges and hurdles, but they are still standing. Whenever I hear someone say that, I say a quiet “Amen” in agreement.

Right now, I am facing a very LOUD ticking clock to find a site to work at in order to complete my Clinical Mental Counseling requirements for Masters degree. This part of my educational journey has been so difficult. I have to have my site paperwork in by October 13th. The site I was going to work with changed their minds last minute, and now I have only a month to find a new site.

I’m trying to stay focused and stand on the peace of God that tells me it’s going to be ok. Please be in prayer that I would connect with the right organization in order to fulfill my graduation requirements of three semesters of Practicum and Internship for a total of 700 hours.

If I had not seen God’s provision and faithfulness before, I would be worried, but I have personally seen God come through for me time and time again. I know God to be a promise keeper.

So, I speak out into the atmosphere and say this:

“I trust you, Lord. Allow the right company to be illuminated in my spirit so that I will know it is the place you have chosen just for me. Allow me to have favor in their eyes. I rebuke any stumbling blocks, or traps, set by the enemy I WILL be still and know that you are in complete control and you are right here with me, Amen.”

Scriptures of Peace

Mark 4:35-41

Modern English Version

The Calming of a Storm

35 That same day, when the evening came, He said to them, “Let us go cross to the other side.” 36 When they had sent the crowd away, they took Him in the boat just as He was. There were also other little boats with Him. 37 A great wind storm arose, and the waves splashed into the boat, so that it was now filling the boat. 38 He was in the stern asleep on a pillow. They woke Him and said, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

39 He rose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” Then the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

40 He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is that you have no faith?”

41 They feared greatly and said to one another, “What kind of Man is He, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

Family, yes, life can throw us some serious curve balls. Life is lifing right now, but I stand on one thing my mother always tells me, “Remember, Marcia, we don’t serve no weak God.” This is the reminder I have for all of us. Don’t look at the storm. Focus on God. It is through us standing in the power of Jesus that we can rebuke the wind and speak to our storm by saying, “Peace, be still.”

I love you all with the amazing and everlasting love of Jesus Christ, who is our Savior, Redeemer, and Lord.

It’s Already Alright…

Greetings, Precious Family:

It is with the complete and encompassing Peace of the Lord that I write this letter to you.

I joyfully remind each of you, AND ME, that the Lord’s Peace is something that is always available to us. It is not something that comes automatically. We have to choose to accept it. When fear, trouble, trauma, bills, and even when death comes, we can still decide to accept and rest in God’s peace.

Scriptures of Peace

Philippians 4:6-7

Modern English Version

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:12-17

Modern English Version

12 So embrace, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, a spirit of mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, and longsuffering. 13 Bear with one another and forgive one another. If anyone has a quarrel against anyone, even as Christ forgave you, so you must do. 14 And above all these things, embrace love, which is the bond of perfection.

15 Let the peace of God, to which also you are called in one body, rule in your hearts. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Family, a new season is just around the corner. If everything has seemed chaotic and out of control, God just needed to give you time to get it under control and corrected.

One thing I know for sure is that as God is preparing us for GREATER. He will not allow us to move forward if part of our life is out of order. He will be on our timetable. If it takes us one day, one month, or one year, God will not allow anything that needs to be corrected to move into our new season or “house.”

Just like preparing to move from one house to another, we may need to have garage sales, donations to charity, or just throw things way. No matter what, it’s NOT COMING to the new house.

Trust me, I’ve had to change a lot of things in my life once I realized God was not going to advance me in my old mindset. My report card was not good, and I failed a couple of life classes.

So now, I can gladly say that I have made some big changes in my life, and I am much happier, and I definitely have more peace. I still have more work to do. God is definitely STILL working on and with me.

Family, keep pushing forward. Don’t get “comfortable” in a season or mindset you were not meant to dwell in long-term.

We can do this!!!!!

Be Holy…

Greetings, Precious Family:

As always, I pray that today’s letter finds you abiding in the Peace of the Lord. We shall be stable in all we do if our heart, mind, and spirit are grounded in God’s Peace.

This past week, there has been a common theme that has crossed my path for several days. The message that has repeatedly resounded is God’s Holiness. God is forever holy, and because God is Holy, holiness should be our desire as well, since we are made in God’s image and likeness.

Scripture Reading

1 Peter 1:3-16

Modern English Version

A Living Hope

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that does not fade away, kept in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now, if for a little while, you have had to suffer various trials, in order that the genuineness of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tried by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom, having not seen, you love; and in whom, though you do not see Him now, you believe and you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory, receiving as the result of your faith the salvation of your souls.

10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that should come to you have inquired and searched diligently, 11 seeking the events and time the Spirit of Christ, who was within them, signified when He foretold the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, concerning the things which are now reported to you by those who have preached the gospel to you through the Holy Spirit, who was sent from heaven—things into which the angels desire to look.

A Call to Holy Living

13 Therefore guard your minds, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children do not conduct yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance. 15 But as He who has called you is holy, so be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”[a]

Family, I know some days and seasons are harder than others, but I promise, if you stand firm in your faith and keep your eyes on God, you will get through it victoriously. Remember, also, to call upon the mature saints of God to ask for prayer and guidance. I promise, they are wonderful treasures that can tell you FIRST HAND about God’s faithfulness.

May today’s letter, scripture reading, and music video be an encouragement to you. May they all come back to your remembrance when you need them the most.

I love you with the amazing and everlasting love of our Lord and Redeeming Savior, Jesus, The Christ.

Rod and Staff of Comfort…

Good morning, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you always, in every situation and circumstance. May the Lord’s Peace be your stabilizer and foundation.

I am always grateful for the opportunity to write each week. God has allowed me this special time with you all. I will never take this time for granted.

For those of you who have been with me from the very beginning, so many years ago, I thank you. For those who just started your journey with me, I thank you. It is the continual prayers and support from each of you that has changed my life. I take great pride in knowing that there are people praying for me and my well-being spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

I have been asked, by some of you, if it would be ok to send me donations and love offering. The reason I always say NO is because this devotional is my tithe of talent and time back to God.

I also take great comfort in knowing that God is always with me. Whether I’m facing joy or sorrow, happiness or pain, fear or courage, God is always with me and with you as well. Take comfort in knowing that you are never alone.

Scriptures of Comfort

Psalm 23

Modern English Version

A Psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside still waters.
    He restores my soul;
He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
    for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

Family,

I know sometimes life and places on the path we have to walk through can be very scary, but trust and know that the God we serve is always with us. I have seen the faithfulness of God, first hand. He has proven himself over and over again.

Don’t be afraid, don’t let your heart quiver. May the peace of the Lord be with you. Rest in peace, knowing that it is ALREADY ok.

Draw Me Close

Greetings Family,

I’m so grateful to be able to write this letter to you. May the peace of the Lord rest, rule, and abide with you.

Family, have you been in a season of your life where it feels like you are going in the right direction, only to find out that you have been going off course? You’re not sure when it happened, but little by little, inch by inch, you have strayed from the path.

What happened? Was it a job, a relationship, a hobbie, social media, or whatever it was that got you off balance and caused you to slowly move God out? 🤔

The wonderful thing is this….God is never far away. Call out to God and ask to be drawn close. Ask God to restore your relationship and to restore you to your right mind. Pray every day, as often as you can throughout the day. Talk to God at every turn with every decision, so that you can get reminded of the sound and feeling of God’s voice.

I pray a prayer of protection and peace over you, in the name of Jesus. I pray that you will respond and recognize God’s voice. I pray that your ears would be closed to any voice that is trying to deceive you. I pray throughout the day, you will be able to clearly hear God tell you how much He loves you. He is our Father. Draw close. Be intentional in your prayers.

Scriptures of Repentance

James 4:1-10

Modern English Version

Friendship With the World

4 Where do wars and fights among you come from? Do they not come from your lusts that war in your body? You lust and do not have, so you kill. You desire to have and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have, because you do not ask. You ask, and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your passions.

You adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “He yearns jealously for the spirit that lives in us”[a]But He gives more grace. For this reason it says:

God resists the proud,
    but gives grace to the humble.”[b]

Therefore submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to dejection. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Intimate Worship

Family, your relationship with God is too important. Do not take it for granted. Now that you are in your right mind….Stay there. Press toward the altar of God. Bow down and repent. Open your mouth and worship.

I love you. I’m going through this with you.

Your sister,

Gracefully Broken

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you, All.

I am so blessed to be allowed to write to you this week. I am even more humbled and grateful that the Spirit of the Living God has allowed me to be a usable vessel. I wrote this devotional on Wednesday but was told to wait until I published it. I didn’t understand why, until I had a conversation with a dear family member.

There is nothing about me that makes me special or extraordinary. On the contrary, I have so many things in my life that God is trying to teach me. Sometimes, it feels like the lessons are never going to end. However, I rejoice with each lesson because it assures me that God is still working on me and that He is not finished yet.

One thing is always the same with each lesson. I can always feel the undercurrent of God’s love flowing through me, gracefully weaving its way into my heart, mind, and soul.

The fingerprint of God is so evident in those he loves, which is anyone willing to submit to the authority and power of God. God knows the person we are each called to be.

In the scripture passage for today, David is almost inconsolable because he know he sinned against God. Something happens on the inside of me when I know that I have let God down. God doesn’t rub my face in my mistake. God understands that the repercussion of the fact that I moved outside of his timing and will are going to be punishment enough.

In Psalm 51, when David committed adultery, it was his pain in knowing that he sinned against God. It was his sin against God that brought him to his knees. That is what sin does. It separates us from God. That is why Psalm 51 is so powerful. Separation from God, even if only for a short time, is one of the worst feelings anyone can experience, especially if you have a close intimate relationship with God.

Scripture of Repentance

Psalm 51:1-17

New International Version

Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
    blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
    and cleanse me from my sin
.

For I know my transgressions,
    and my sin is always before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned
    and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
    and justified when you judge.
Surely I was sinful at birth,
    sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
    you taught me wisdom in that secret place.

7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
    wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
    let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins
    and blot out all my iniquity.

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
    and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
    or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
    and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
    so that sinners will turn back to you.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
    you who are God my Savior,
    and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 Open my lips, Lord,
    and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
    you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
17 My sacrifice, O God, is[b] a broken spirit;
    a broken and contrite heart
    you, God, will not despise.

Withholding Nothing

Good morning, Family:

I pray that today’s letter finds you all abiding safely in the peace of God. May that peace, in which we dwell, be evident in every area of our lives.

Family, the Holy Spirit of God is so precious and patient. The Holy Spirit leads and guides us in growth and knowledge of God so that we can share with the world around us the message of God’s greatest act of Love, which is the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of his only begotten son Jesus Christ.

With all that Jesus has done for us, for the sole purpose of having a relationship with Him, we are encouraged to withhold nothing from Him. If there are any areas of your life that you know are blocking you from total fellowship with God, it/they need to be removed. Give yourself away to God to use for His holy purposes.

May our heart’s cry be, “Lord, all I want is you.” May our lives be a continual act of worship, withholding nothing for God’s holy purpose for our lives.

Holy Scriptures

Romans 12:1-2

New International Version

A Living Sacrifice

12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
