Author: Sacred Journey Devotionals: A Journey To Wholeness
I am a child and friend of the Triune God. This devotional documents my divine and sacred journey on the path that God has set for my life. I am connected to ALL that is a divine and loving reflection of God. It is my desire to share words and uplifting music that helps us tap into the powerful and life changing mind of Christ, so that we can experience exceedingly abundantly living, both here on earth and beyond.
When we have a chance to show the love of Christ we live out the Word of God. Today I’m not only going to share a worship video, I’m going to share the video of a young man whose brother was killed. He addressed his brother’s murderer in court.
1 John 3:1-3
Contemporary English Version (CEV)
3 Think how much the Father loves us. He loves us so much that he lets us be called his children, as we truly are. But since the people of this world did not know who Christ is, they don’t know who we are. 2 My dear friends, we are already God’s children, though what we will be hasn’t yet been seen. But we do know that when Christ returns, we will be like him, because we will see him as he truly is.3 This hope makes us keep ourselves holy, just as Christ is holy.
Go in peace, family, while serving the Lord. May the peace and love of God be with you always.
I share this scripture with you this morning. Ask the Spirit of the Living God to open your eyes, ears, heart and spirit to allow the revelation of the Word flow over you.
2 Corinthians 4:6-12
Contemporary English Version (CEV)
6 The Scriptures say, “God commanded light to shine in the dark.” Now God is shining in our hearts to let you know that his glory is seen in Jesus Christ.
7 We are like clay jars in which this treasure is stored. The real power comes from God and not from us. 8 We often suffer, but we are never crushed. Even when we don’t know what to do, we never give up. 9 In times of trouble, God is with us, and when we are knocked down, we get up again. 10-11 We face death every day because of Jesus. Our bodies show what his death was like, so that his life can also be seen in us. 12 This means that death is working in us, but life is working in you.
Go in peace, while serving and praising the Lord. Allow the Lord to be gloried through your life. It is our reasonable sacrifice.
I greet you with the never-failing love of the Lord. I pray that today you would experience God in a new and exciting way.
I remember a conversation I had with my father, when he was alive. I was talking to him about prayer time and intimate time with Jesus. He said I confused him because he had never heard anyone talk about their relationship with the Lord like I did.
Everyone has a different relationship with the Lord. One is not better than the other. One of my favorite worship songs sums up my closeness. I believe in my heart that once my dad heard this song he understood.
Psalm 42:1-2
Common English Bible (CEB)
BOOK II
(Psalms 42–72)
Psalm 42
For the music leader. A maskil of the Korahites.
42 Just like a deer that craves streams of water, my whole being craves you, God. 2 My whole being thirsts for God, for the living God. When will I come and see God’s face?
Listen to today’s worship video by Jonathan Butler entitled, Falling in Love with Jesus.
May the love of God engulf your entire soul, even unto the uttermost parts that need to be healed and restored.
Its Friday!! Praise God for another amazing week and almost another amazing month. I truly have no idea where the month of September went so fast. One thing is for certain, God was with us every step of the way.
The world can be challenging some days, but having a daily relationship with the Lord makes all the difference.
Sometimes, people tend to forget about God unless they are facing a crisis. For others, a daily relationship with the Lord is not only necessary, it is essential.
Do you have a favorite hobby? I love nature. In my free time, I love being able to spend time around animals, flowers, and water. It brings me so much joy. I dont make time for it every day, but when I do, I am so happy. Hobbies are for spare time, but I would love to start making it a habit. I want to consciously make it a part of my life.
What is your spiritual relationship with Jesus like? Is it a spare time thing or a habitual daily journey? Do you spend time with God when you have nothing else to do? Is God a hobby or a habit?
2 Peter 1:5-8
Contemporary English Version (CEV)
5 Do your best to improve your faith. You can do this by adding goodness, understanding, 6 self-control, patience, devotion to God, 7 concern for others, and love. 8 If you keep growing in this way, it will show that what you know about our Lord Jesus Christ has made your lives useful and meaningful.
This word that the Holy Spirit put on my heart is strong, this morning. I know that most of you know the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. I need you to pay special attention to what Martha said and what Jesus did, and said, as a reply to her.
This is what God wants the world to HEAR, this morning:
There is nothing that is too big for God. Your past doesn’t scare God. Your addiction doesn’t scare God. Your sin doesn’t scare God. All that he wants is the opportunity to free you from a life of sin, death, and bondage.
When you hear God calling YOU OUT of the things that try to bind you and kill you, be responsive and obedient. Jesus has the power to free you from the thing or things that snare you and have become a stronghold in your life.
Insert your name in the story below.
God is calling you forth to an abundant life. Dont allow anyone to say tell you that your past “stinks,” like Martha told Jesus about Lazarus. When God brings you out, he brings you OUT, with new clothes and new smell. No matter what, you are a NEW CREATION.
Jesus told those that knew Lazarus the closest to unwrap him and let him go. Why did he do that? Jesus could have unwrapped Lazarus himself. Jesus wanted those closest to him to see the transformation for themselves. In other words, dont keep this man bound up. You may not want to forget who the old Lazarus used to be, but I have made him new. Now, “YOU, UPWRAP HIM AND LET HIM GO!!!!”
P. S. Jesus wept, because he was angry that the people didn’t believe he was who he said he was, after all this time. He used Lazarus as proof that he and the Father were ONE.
John 11:39-44
New Living Translation (NLT)
39 “Roll the stone aside,” Jesus told them.
But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.”
40 Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?”41 So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me.42 You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.”43 Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!”44And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in graveclothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and let him go!”
I love this song by Jeremy Camp. Every time it comes on the radio, I turn it up as loud as I can. The name of the song is Word of Life, but I call it the Lazarus Song.
Thank you, Jesus!!!! You have been faithful and good. We give you all the glory, praise and honor.
Thank you for imparting your joy onto us. We bless your name. May everyone we encounter today see your joy shinning through.
Psalm 5:11
(New International Version)
(But) Let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
Romans 15:13
(New International Version)
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
May the peace, love and joy of the Lord be with you always.
Have you ever been in a season, or time in your life, where your spirit was full of the Lord and you were ready to face the world? You and God were in fellowship every day. Then you did something to get off track in your spiritual routine, with the Lord, and it left you open to the attack of the enemy and the desires of your flesh.
This is why we must die to ourselves daily. Otherwise, our fleshly carnal nature will try to take over. It is only through the power of the risen Savior that we have the ability to overcome sin. We were born into sin, through Adam, but those of us who call on Jesus dont stay that way. We are born into a new life with Christ.
We must get out of our own way. It is not a weakness or a crutch to call on Jesus. It it by His name that we are saved. Humble yourself and ask God to Deliver You.
This is what Paul said:
Romans 7:21-25
New Living Translation (NLT)
21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.22 I love God’s law with all my heart.23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.
Happy Mid Week. One more day we have been blessed to see. One more day to share God’s love, hope, peace, joy and grace with the world. Yay us!!! Use today wisely. Each day is a token of grace.
Some days, I truly need all of those things from God. There have been times in my life, I have gotten myself into a situation, that I truly could not see my way out of….BUT GOD!!!
The words “BUT GOD,” have changed my life. God showed up when I thought I was drowning. He showed up when I had almost lost all hope. He showed up when I was just about to….BUT GOD.
Ephesians 2:4-10
Contemporary English Version (CEV)
4-5 But God was merciful! We were dead because of our sins, but God loved us so much that he made us alive with Christ, and God’s wonderful kindness is what saves you. 6 God raised us from death to life with Christ Jesus, and he has given us a place beside Christ in heaven. 7 God did this so that in the future world he could show how truly good and kind he is to us because of what Christ Jesus has done. 8 You were saved by faith in God, who treats us much better than we deserve. This is God’s gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own. 9 It isn’t something you have earned, so there is nothing you can brag about. 10 God planned for us to do good things and to live as he has always wanted us to live. That’s why he sent Christ to make us what we are.
14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
May the peace of the Lord dwell with you always. Go in peace, while serving the Lord.
