Day 19 of 365: Love

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is quoted to have said, “Darkness can not drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate can not drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Love, the pure love that comes from the Infinite Source of God is a love that is incomprehensible. It is love that transcends time, space, and, yes, even hate. The Bible speaks clearly about God’s love and its power.

Scripture of the Day

1 Corinthians 13:13
New International Version

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, we give you thanks, honor, and glory for allowing us to be your hands and feet. May everyone we meet see you before they see us. May we leave your sweet fragrance in everyone’s life. In the sweet name of Jesus we do pray.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen…

Day 18 of 365: Send Judah First

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, yesterday we talked about the importance of the structure of the Lord’s Prayer and how crucial it was, and still is, to give God praise before we ask for anything.

In the Bible, whenever there was a battle that needed to be fought and won, God would command for the Tribe of Judah to go first. Why, because praise sets the atmosphere for God to move.

In Hebrew: יְהוּדָה (Yehudah)
Meaning: “Praised,” “Thanksgiving,” or “Celebrated”
Root: From the Hebrew verb yada (יָדָה), meaning “to praise” or “to thank”.

Scripture of the Day

Judges 20:18
King James Version

18 And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the Lord said, Judah shall go up first.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for loving us enough to create us to worship you. Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice of the death of your only Son, Jesus, in order to create a path to intimate worship with you through his resurrection.  What an amazing love you have for us. May our worship be evident in every area of our lives in thought, word, and deed. In the name of our Redeemer and Chief Intercessor, Jesus Christ.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 17 of 365: The Lord’s Prayer

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

When I began thinking about how to pray, my heart always goes back to The Lord’s Prayer. It is the ultimate road map that covers the perfect format of a prayer.

The importance of starting each prayer by giving God glory and honor is the most important aspect. Jesus taught his disciples to never ask God for anything until they have given glory, honor, and worship to God.

Scripture of the Day

Matthew 6:7-13
New International Version

7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, we bless your holy name. We place nothing before you and know that you are our source and strength. Guide us in your perfect will so that we may be in tune with heaven. In Jesus’ name.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 16 of 365: Dancing Like David

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, if you don’t know me by now, one of the things you have to know is that my love language is music. One of my favorite writers in the Bible is David. David was a man who knew how to worship, and he loved music.

Worship music is typically slower and more melodic, but every once in a while, a song will come along that will make you grab your spiritual warfare gear and your dance shoes at the same time. Sometimes, when you dance, everyone is not going to like it or even understand it. Never let anyone or anything stop you from giving God praise.

Today’s Worship video is that kind of song for me. I truly hope you dance like David on this song.

Scripture Passage of the Day

2 Samuel 6:14-15
New International Version

14 Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, 15 while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets.

Prayer of the Day

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for allowing there to be so much joy in my worship. May there never be a day that goes by that I don’t tell you, “Thank You”. You, Lord, are my highest joy. May there always be a dance in my heart, even when my body is weak. In Jesus’ name.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 15 of 365: Forever Faithful

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, one of the many, many, many beautiful characteristics of our Lord God is God’s faithfulness toward us, even when we don’t deserve it.

There are so many times when God has shown up and done exactly what was promised, even when I thought all hope was lost.

The love and faithfulness of God surpasses all understanding. Every time I pour my praise on God, I am always sure to first give thanks and praise for God’s faithfulness.

Scripture of the Day

Psalm 89:1-2
New International Version
Psalm 89[a]

A maskil[b] of Ethan the Ezrahite.

1 I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known
through all generations.
2 I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, how many ways can we say thank you to you? There are not enough languages that can hold all the praise I want to give you. Your faithfulness toward me brings me to my knees. May I never take your faithfulness as something common. I know that it is as precious as pure gold. I love and thank you. In Jesus’ name, I lift this prayer to you.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen…

Day 14 of 365: Learning To Soar

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, one of the most majestic sights I have ever seen, is when I watch an injured eagle be rehabilitated for months and then set free into the wild again.

When it was time to transition the eagle from the nature preserve, where it had received all of it care, the caretakers placed a small blindfold type hood over its head and placed it in the travel crate. After a steep drive up a mountain, the caretaker arrived at the release destination and took the eagle out of the crate, and removed the blindfold from its head. The caretaker gave the eagle a high toss in the air, and it began flapping upward. When it got to the perfect altitude, the eagle stopped flapping its wings and just began to soar. It was breathtakingly beautiful. In that moment, the Word of God came alive…

Scripture Passage of the Day

Isaiah 40:28-31
New International Version

28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Prayer of the Day

Spirit of the Living God, we bless your Holy name. Help us to remember that our strength comes from you. In our flesh we can do nothing, but in you we can mount up and soar. You are our hiding place. May we forever be in the shadow of your wings. In Jesus name.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 13 of 365: In the Spirit and In Truth

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you always.

This evening, I was praying on what to write the devotion about, so I got myself still and quiet and just began to listen. After a few minutes of silence, I was led, by the Holy Spirit, to the Gospel of John, specifically the fourth chapter, when Jesus is leaving Judea and heading back to Galilee but he had to go through Samaria to get to Galilee.

Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well and gives her a prophetic word regarding her life. She recognized Jesus as a prophet but did not fully understand that he was the fulfillment of scriptures (The Living Water). She was somewhat confused because tradition said that if Jewish people wanted to worship that they needed to worship in Jerusalem. How could Jesus speak of worshipping God in the middle of Samaria. This was his response to her regarding how and where to worship:

Scripture of the Day

John 4:19-24
New International Version

19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for dwelling with us like only you can. Thank you for teaching us how to worship you. May we forever be sensitive to your presence and to your move. May we never become complacent or comfortable if you are not in the midst of our worship. Thank you for reminding us that worshipping you does not require us to be in a place or building, but instead, true worship is led by you, and it unlocks and opens the secret things of God. It is in the precious name of Jesus that we lift this prayer to heaven. May it be a fragrant offering.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 12 of 365: The Promise

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Family, one of the aspects that I enjoy the most in having a personal relation with Jesus is knowing that there is nothing that can ever separate me from God’s love.

The only way that I could ever be separated from God is if I separate myself. One of the things my mother would always tell me is, “If you feel distanced or separated from God, it was you who moved… not God.”

May we always strive to grow closer to God every day and not further away. 🙏

Scripture of the Day

Matthew 11:28-30
New International Version

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Let Us Pray

Spirit of the Living God, thank you for always desiring to spend time and dwell with us. You have always promised to be there for all who call out to you, including the tired, weary, depressed, sick, lonely, afraid, or a multitude of other things. Thank you for your sacrifice so that we could learn what it means to walk with you. In the precious and perfect name of Jesus our Lord.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Day 11 of 365: The Most Precious Gift

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

When we talk about the uniqueness of Jesus, we have to remember what made him the perfect gift to us. I was confirmed and raised, mostly in the Lutheran Church (ELCA). One of the things I loved the most was the liturgical service and saying the Nicene Creed. Through the creed, it gives the lineage of Christ from birth to his resurrection by taking different Scriptures from the Bible. The most important aspect of the creed is the gift and sacrifice of Jesus.

Scripture Passage of the Day

John 3:16-17
New International Version

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Prayer of the Day

Spirit of the Living God, you created us to worship you in spirit and in truth. In the Old Testament people had to sacrifice perfect and unblemished animals in order to get close to you, but because of your love for us, You took the form of man and you became the perfect sacrifice for all eternity. May we never take for granted your most precious gift. It is in Jesus name that we can come to the Throne Room with these prayers.

And we let it be…And so it is…

Amen, Amen and Amen

Day 10 of 365: My Soul Says Yes

Greetings, Precious Family:

May the abundant and everlasting peace of the Lord be with you always.

Family, in this Season of saying “Yes” to God, I pray that we all will become more sensitive to the voice and unction of the Holy Spirit. I know that everyone who is reading this may not be a lover of God. In fact, many people have varying degrees of hurt and pain caused by people inside the church. That is one of the reasons I began writing. Each reader will be able to take their own journey with God.

I pray that over the course of this year that hearts will be healed, and someone will return to God in a new way. Intimacy with God can take many forms, not just inside the church. If that is you, I love you with the everlasting and never-ending love of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Savior, Redeemer, and Chief Intercessor at the right hand of God.

Scripture of the Day

1 Samuel 3:8-10
New International Version

8 A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”

Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

10 The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!”

Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

Prayer of the Day

Spirit of the Living God. We are listening and ready for what you have called us to do. May we answer only to your voice. Cover and protect us as we step out to do the will of God the Father. Walk this walk with us as we draw closer to you. May lives be changed by our obedience to you. In Jesus name.

And we let it be… And so it is…

Amen, Amen and Amen

Video of the Day

The video features a live recording of Sonnie Badu’s gospel song, “My Soul Says Yes.” The song expresses a deep commitment and surrender to God’s will.
