Awesome God

Good morning, Precious and Beloved family:

I have a question for you. When you hear the word “awesome,” what attributes do you think of? The Oxford dictionary says, “stunning, amazing, breathtaking, astounding, extremely impressive, inspiring great admiration, and amazing.

Scriptures of Hope

Psalm 47:1-7

New International Version

Psalm 47

For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm.

Clap your hands, all you nations;
    shout to God with cries of joy.

For the Lord Most High is awesome,
    the great King over all the earth.
He subdued nations under us,
    peoples under our feet.
He chose our inheritance for us,
    the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.

God has ascended amid shouts of joy,
    the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.
Sing praises to God, sing praises;
    sing praises to our King, sing praises.
For God is the King of all the earth;
    sing to him a psalm of praise.

Song of Praise

Family, when I think about the goodness of God and ALL He has done in my life, I have to pause and just say, “Thank You, Lord.”

Your homework this week is to find scripture passages in the Bible that let God know you feel.

I love you with the amazing and everlasting love of our Lord and Redeemer, Jesus, The Christ.

Lean Not…

Good morning, Precious Family:

Since last Wednesday’s Devotional, there has been a reoccurring theme in the conversations I’ve had with several close people in my life.

The topic that the Holy Spirit keeps bringing up is regarding leaning NOT on our limited understanding but instead to trust God and the instructions he is giving us, no matter how they may sound. The Word of God is very clear when it comes to our understanding and God’s infinite wisdom.

Word of Instruction

Proverbs 3:5-6

New International Version

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.[a]

Trust and independence are two attributes that tend to bump heads. Typically, a person that is very independent, likes to be in control of the world around them. One of the hardest things for most people is to release control to someone else.

The main reason why there is so much hesitation in trusting God is that the person can not be in control of the outcome. However, trusting in the Lord and surrendering our will to His is a true faith walk as well as a daily act of worship.

We must understand that God’s Word is full of amazing blessings and promises when we put our whole trust in him.

Our prayer today needs to be a prayer of trust and faith. We must understand that the Holy One, who knew us even before we were in our mother’s womb, is the same Holy One that knows us now. We were created with a purpose. Trust God and believe that if you ask in faith, Jesus will…

Homework

Over the next week, study the Bible for passages about trusting in the Lord and having faith in the Lord. If you feel led, share with me what passages you read and how they helped you.

Mission 007…

Good morning, Precious and Beloved Family:

On my drive into work this morning, I was listening to my favorite radio station. A song by Zauntee came on entitled “Oxygen.” The words of the song just washed over me.

There is so much truth and testimony in that song. Jesus is the Breath of Life and I can’t live without him. My purpose and identity are  completely wrapped up in my relationship with the Lord and the calling and purpose he placed on my life.

In the Gospel of John, Jesus appeared to the disciples after his resurrection. He had them in a room and breathed his spirit into them and gave them instructions on how to live. It is His breath that gives us purpose and direction. Without God’s direction and Holy Oxygen, how will we know how to please Him? That is why I love Zauntee’s song so much.

Scriptures to Live By…

John 20:19-22

New International Version

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

Family, our identification is in Christ alone. Ask the Lord to breathe His Holy Spirit inside of you so that you may work in unison with the will of God.

There is nothing more frustrating that to feel like your life has no purpose or direction. It is the Holy Spirit that is holding your life’s mission and direction if you choose to accept it.

I love you with the amazing and everlasting love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, The Christ. It is in His name that I lift up this devotional. May we walk in obedience and love. Amen
